Registration and AGM Evening
August 31st, 2011
A new Scouting year is upon us once again! We will be holding a registration evening and AGM on Monday 5th September at 7:30pm. If you wish your child(ren) to be involved in Scouting again in Blackrock this year they must be registered on that night. Due to the high numbers on our waiting lists for all sections only those Scouts that are registered on that night will have a chance of a place for this year. At least one parent from each family must attend to ensure a spot this year.
Below is the consent from for this year. You only need to fill out one of these for the year. If you like you can print it out and bring it down filled in for the registration and AGM evening Monday 5th September at 7:30pm.

Filling a week of the schools holidays

Hi all
Our Beaver Leader Stephen is running an archaeology camp for children, called Dig It Kids, in the Scout Den for 6-12 year olds. It promises to be a fun week for those involved, I know my 2 enjoyed the day activity that was ran over Easter.

Registration evening
September 1st, 2010
29th Dublin Blackrock Scouts are holding there annual Registration and AGM evening on Thursday 2 September 2010 at 7:30pm. Letters have gone out to all parents by post and email. If for some reason you did not receive them please attend the above meting.
If you are new to the Group please feel free to attend the above meeting also but attendance will not guarantee a place but the available places will be filled on that evening.

ONE Programme

So with the bulk of the annual camps finished, good luck to Rovers in Wales and Scotland, our attention is turning to the new ONE Programme and the change in Sections.
As part of the pilot scheme I believe that the Group has benefited by having greater youth participation in the programme planning and I am looking forward to seeing this even better enhanced with the ONE Programme. Well done to all the Scouters and Scouts (Trackers to Rovers) for all their hard work and making it a success for our Group.
The biggest changes in the ONE Programme are the names and age ranges. The names have not changed from the previous programme but are different from the Pilot Programme Section names. The names and Age Ranges for the ONE Programme are as follows:

It is Group policy that any six year old wanting to join the Group must be in 1st Class in the September of the Scouting year they join (September to July).
Everybody at this stage should know their new section and meeting night, check with your Scouters if you do not. Potential Patrol Leaders have been identified and invited, Cubs to Venture Scouts, to the Group Training day, hopefully 11 September if available.

Fota 2010

Just back from Annual Camp and everyone had an amazing time. I would like to thank all of the leaders, explorers scouts, discovery scouts and rover scouts who were involved for an incredible camp. Watch this space and I hope to have a log written by two of our scouts up shortly along with many many photos of the camp.
